As
the seasons change, it's exciting to try a new hair color. If
you'd love to try a new look, but are hesitant because you thought
that permanent hair color was your only option, then here's
good news:
Temporary Color
Temporary color change can be achieved with shampoos,
dyes, or, the latest trend, hair mascaras, pencils or sprays.
These products simply coat the outer hair shaft and will generally
last just a few shampoos.
Semi-permanent Color
Semi-permanent color stays for 6 to 12 washings and
is used to perk up your natural color and give your hair a shinier
appearance. This type of hair color is simple to use and does
not contain ammonia or peroxide.
Demi-permanent Color
A long-lasting option, demi-permanent color is often
referred to as tone-on-tone and adds subtle color to your natural
shade but will not lighten it. This color should last bout 24
shampoos.
Highlighting
Highlighting is a form of permanent hair color used
to create a lighter shade on specific areas of the hair. Highlights
can be subtle and add shine or very dramatic. Highlights should
last for about 8 weeks and require touch ups if the color is
dramatically different from your natural shade.
